Healthcare Academies

Healthcare Academies are offered in Watertown, Aberdeen, Mitchell, Sioux Falls and Rapid City. The week-long sessions provide high school students with information and hands-on activities related to careers in healthcare. 


HIPE Week

Healthcare in Partnership with Education (HIPE) Week is planned for the first week in February. Schools, communities and healthcare providers in South Dakota will be working together to sponsor a variety of events and activities.


Virtual Health Career Fair

The Virtual Health Career Fair, offered in partnership with Sanford Health, provides an opportunity for students to experience a wide variety of health careers.  Through DDN, high school students can access health career programming without leaving their classrooms!  For more information contact Anna Fischer.


HOTT Futures

HOTT Futures Offers a curriculum presented by healthcare providers in cooperation with their local middle schools.  The health-related lessons are designed to be presented over two 50-minute class periods.

Informs students about the opportunities in the healthcare industry while meeting the standards of the health curriculum

Forms a partnership between the school and the local healthcare facility.

Provides an opportunity to learn about careers in healthcare from experts in the field.


Health Science Classes

Health Science classes are offered to high school students across the state.  These classes are intended to give students exposure to a variety of health careers through job shadowing and classroom experiences.
