SD High School Senior Essay Contest Prizes
Prizes: Once the essays have been graded, the following prizes will be awarded:
- First Place: $6,000 cash prize
- Second Place: $5,000 cash prize
- Third Place: $3,500 cash prize
- Fourth Place: $2,500 cash prize
- Fifth Place: $1,500 cash prize
In addition, the remaining qualified submissions (qualified submissions that did not make the top five) will be placed into grade categories A-B-C-D with a random drawing by the Division taking place to determine the additional winners who will also be receiving cash prizes of $1,000 (A category) - $750 (B category) - $500 (C category)- $250 (D category). There will be two drawings/award winners in each grade category. Chances of winning are subject to the number of entries and the number in each level.
The following prizes will be given to each of the sponsoring teachers of the winning essays:
- $500 cash prize to the teacher who sponsors the First Place winner
- $400 cash prize to the teacher who sponsors the Second Place winner
- $300 cash prize to the teacher who sponsors the Third Place winner
- $200 cash prize to the teacher who sponsors the Fourth Place winner
- $100 cash prize to the teacher who sponsors the Fifth Place winner
- One $100 cash prize to the teacher who sponsors the most qualifying students from their school. In case of a tie, there will be a random drawing for the winner.
- One $100 cash prize to the winning teacher in a random drawing of all the participating Sponsor Teachers.
