What's New?
  • The Workers' Compensation Advisory Council's next meeting is scheduled for August 23, 2004, at the Ramkota RiverCentre in Pierre.  The meeting will begin at 1:00 p.m. Central Time in the Lewis and Clark Room.  The public is welcome to attend and provide testimony on agenda items.  An agenda will be posted when completed.

  • Unemployment Insurance ~ You can now file your weekly claims for Unemployment Insurance benefits through the Internet.  You must have Internet Explorer 5.0 or newer to utilize this system.  Simply go to www.sd.uiclaims.com to file.

  • An online application for Training Provider Certification under WIA is now available.  

  • E-mail addresses for Career Learning Center directors are available.

  • Reminder:  Posters required by the Department of Labor are available for free.  Federal 5-1 posters may be downloaded or obtained from your local Career Center.  State requirements include an Unemployment Insurance Notice to Employees which is mailed directly to covered employers by the Unemployment Insurance Division.  Posters promoting safety in the workplace are also required.  These may be created by the employer, obtained from workers' compensation carriers, or purchased from vendors.  There is not a statute requiring the posting of a workers' compensation notice.

  • Applications for WIA Adult and Dislocated Workers – Customized Training are also available in .pdf format.  Applications for these programs are ongoing.  (Adobe .pdf format)  Adobe  software is available for downloading.
  • Register on-line for Business Tax and Employment Tax Workshops. These joint seminars are offered by the IRS, Department of Revenue and Department of Labor.
  • With the click of a mouse, small businesses and workers can now get expert advice on their rights and responsibilities under nine employment laws at Elaws.
  • Internet links relating to labor, business, employment and career information are available.
