This May marks the 50th anniversary for Older Americans Month, a time to remember, honor and celebrate those 65 years and older in our communities. It is a time to recognize contributions of older persons, past and present, in the United States.

According to medium series projections by the South Dakota State University (SDSU) Rural Life and Census Data Center, older South Dakotans will account for 23.2 percent of the state's population by 2035.
